Cable 14 , which frequently relies on volunteers to staff productions, chose For-A’s Odyssey Insight production server because it’s easy to use, says Cable 14′s Bill Custers.

Cable 14 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, has purchased an For-A Odyssey Insight production server for pre-recorded openings, closings and inserting pre-produced segments into programming produced for the area.

Using a web-based GUI that is included with Odyssey Insight, production staff can access and control the server from anywhere in the building.

The cable channel relies on some volunteers from the community to produce content of local interest aired on Cable 14, so ease of operation and a user friendly interface were key in selecting Odyssey Insight, said Bill Custers, cable channel technical and network operations supervisor.

The server allows operators to drop assets into a playlist, queue up the next asset in the list or build a loop, he said.
